MARKET & ADOPTION

The market caught up to what practitioners already knew.

Social listening stopped being an early-adopter tool a while ago. The market data for 2026 shows a category that's grown past the experimental phase and into something most marketing teams already run, with the remaining holdouts closing that gap fast.

A market growing faster than most software categories

The social listening market was valued at $10.37 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $12.15 billion in 2026, a 17.1% jump in a single year, according to The Business Research Company. Longer-range projections vary by methodology: $20.2 billion by 2030 from Grand View Research, $22.61 billion by 2030 from The Business Research Company, and $29.63 billion by 2033 from Coherent Market Insights. Every estimate points the same direction: sustained double-digit growth, not a plateau.

That growth isn't evenly spread. SNS Insider projects the US market alone to grow from $2.97 billion in 2025 to $11.2 billion by 2035, with Travel & Hospitality the standout vertical at a 17.99% CAGR, faster than the category average.

Adoption is already mainstream, not early

76% of marketing professionals report using social listening software, with 17% not using it and 7% still evaluating, according to Statista's 2025 data. Around 60% of companies across the Americas use social listening in their social media marketing (Statista, 2025), and 83% of EU enterprises in the information and communication sector used social media in 2025 (Eurostat). Coverage is thinner in Asia-Pacific, where 41.5% of marketing professionals had an active program as of 2023 (Statista), but SNS Insider expects it to be the fastest-growing region at a 16.57% CAGR. North America remains the largest market, at 39.9% of 2024 revenue according to Grand View Research.

If you're still in that remaining 24%, the workflow the majority already runs is straightforward: track your brand name (and however people actually misspell or shorten it) as a keyword across the platforms where your customers actually post, and let sentiment get scored automatically instead of reading every mention by hand. That's the exact setup Social Line runs across Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Reddit, Threads, and TikTok, on a keyword you set up once.

Software, not services, is where the growth is

Grand View Research puts software at 64.1% of the market in 2024, and SNS Insider estimates it at more than 73% in 2025, while the services segment (agencies, consultants, custom research) grows more slowly, at a 15.31% CAGR in SNS Insider's forecast. That split tracks with what most teams actually want: not a one-off research engagement, but a running pipeline that keeps scoring sentiment and volume on its own, week over week, without a human re-reading the same mentions every time a report is due.

It's also why a platform like Social Line is built around a keyword you set up once, run across seven platforms, and let compound into a 14-day trend, rather than a report someone has to manually rebuild.
